Mens Reebok Easytone Stride Walking Shoe Review

By

There are a few shoes out there that claim to tone and shape your legs while you walk. The shoes either look lame, or cost big bucks and look lame! Reebok finally changed this. The Mens Reebok Easytone Stride Walking Shoes actually look like running shoes:

The Reebok Easytone design was inspired by the bosu ball. I’m sure you have seen the bosu ball before; it looks like a stability ball cut in half and attached to a rigid platform. The easytone’s have two airpods built into the soles, one under the ball of the foot and one under the heel. These two air pods create softness and micro instability. With every step you take in the easytones your forcing your leg muscles to work a little harder.

First Impressions

The first thing I noticed is how the shoes nicely cushioned my heel and ball of my foot. I have had heel problems in the past (heel spurs) and have had to buy extra heel cushioning for almost every new shoe I bought. Not with the easytones. The built in airpod under the heel was all I needed.

My first few steps wearing the easytones were interesting! It does take some getting used to, but after a few minutes I had no problems. Thanks to the airpods under the balls of your feet, you can rise up on your toes and get a good calf raise stretch, anywhere! This stretching is important if you have plantar fasciitis (like I do). The plantar fascia is a thick fibrous band of connective tissue that stretches from your heel bone towards the toes. Plantar fasciitis is the swelling of this band, and stretching (like calf raises) will help reduce the pain, but this method hasn’t been clinically proven. All I know is by continually doing calf raises my pain is gone!

Good as Advertised

After wearing these around for about four or five hours, I felt like I gave my legs a workout. I actually felt a burn in my calves, hamstrings and glutes! Amazing!

One of my favorite workouts is to wear a weight vest, strap on the easytone shoes and take my two dogs for a long walk. By the time we are done, all three of our tongues are hanging out!

Testimonials From Amazon:

I was looking for a shoe to help walks and gym time on the treadmill give a little more 'oomph' and it was either these or the Fugly Skechers. Then I did some research and found that Skechers are rip-offs of the MBT's from a couple years ago. They are the only "athletic shoe company" that does little to no studies on how people walk and move. Skechers pretty much just clones other company’s shoes at a low price point. Not to mention the Skechers look RIDICULOUSLY FUGLY.

On to Reebok. They actually do studies on how athletes move and how the human body works. That and the fact that Reebok has a study that proves the EasyTone lines actually work. I think they claim up to a 10% increase in muscle activity. And they look like regular shoes, not Fugly like Skechers.

So the choice was: 1) Company that does little to no research and knock-offs others design or 2) Company that actually does research and comes out with a new design. I went with the Reeboks.

So I got these about 2 months ago and they work well but are a little noisy on some surfaces. You definitely can feel that they are working some muscles that don't get used all the time. The cushioning is great and the air movement between the heel and forefoot makes it truly like you are walking on air.

The shoes are a little wobbly at first but I think that's the point.

The only downside is there's a little clacking noise on some surfaces (mainly linoleum or ceramic tile) if you walk a certain way. But, in a noisy environment like a mall, store, or just walking around it's not that noticeable.

All in all, a great shoe in the toning category! Gadget Nut from PA

Conclusion

Increase your muscle activity by up to 28% in the glutes, 11% in the quads and 11% in the calf muscles just by wearing a shoe, and these are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned!
